I only mentioned the tyres Pete because a more trail type tyre will have a much stronger carcass than a road bias tyre making it more resistant to cuts and tears when off the smooth stuff, you will lose some grip on road depending what tyre your on but if your not a racer you wont notice the difference and from what i gather wet grip wont be an issue because you don't ride in it -

Are you thinking of putting a more trail type tyre on when those wear out Pete -
That makes it wider he wants it to be longer and there's something wrong with his side stand as well lol
-
Oi i had a bench in my lock down ride report and none of you feckers other than Bob commented on it
-
@Rogelio Fernandez-Rojo I can see you haven't got the hang of posting links yet LOL
-
There's always that once Pete and that will probably be when the tyre goes down LOL
-
Keep it quiet Pete you don't want that racket spoiling the ride
-
Just remember Pete if your going to modify the side stand the bike needs to lean over enough so the bike don't fall over if any of the tyre goes flat overnight

Everything's Abandoned! Is this End of Days?

There's some tidy shelving in there for the garage I'd be back with the car and some tools -
targets i think Pete. I was on what was probably the only hill around there years ago watching jets fly over firing live rounds at targets there, it was pretty impressive

I was thinking how it compares to my old 650 which holds 1.8L of oil and has to be changed every 2000 mile but try to do it every 1000 mile as it has a hard life
-
@XTreme do you know how much engine oil it takes and how long the service intervals are yet
-
I did manage to drag myself out of bed and change the oil and filter on the 650 today, I also got the forks off flushed them out and refilled with new oil. It was a mess in there i fitted new fork bushes 2000 miles ago and this was the first oil change i think i should have done it earlier like you do with a new engine. There was literally no damping from the forks and thought i might have to strip the forks right down to see what's going on but the new oil has made a huge difference. This is a little story of why i wanted to check the forks out The last time i was out on the bike i was motoring along a mountain track i know well, there is a big dip from subsidence on it which i usually just fly over with no problem, there were some kids standing by the dip this day talking, they were up there on their little dirt bikes, great time for a pose i thinks so i kept the gas on going over the dip when i landed i just about bottomed out front and rear suspension as i normally do but this time carried on with a power wheelie as i rode along the track, must have looked cool from where the kids were standing. But on board the bike was a different story the 650 doesn't have enough go in it for power wheelies and what really happened was after compressing the front end it rebounded so fast the front end catapulted into the air where i was doing my best to keep on the the bloody thing and kept going so the kids didn't see the look of fear in my face LOL

I have found with screens bigger isn't always better, my CRF1000 had terrible buffeting with the standard screen, i tried a bolt on adjustable thingy and it made it much better but it was splitting my view which i didn't like so put a short screen on mainly for looks and was surprised it stopped all the buffeting i now get a clean wind blast which is much better
-
I honestly cant remember @boboneleg i think it was the standard 5w. I have a gallon of fork oil up the shed and whatever weight that is I'll be using
-
Tomorrow I'll probably change the engine oil and filter on the 650 and maybe rebuild the front forks see what's going on in there after fitting heavier springs a while ago

Nope I've been working from home all week, luckily I've let the office side of my job pile up as its been so busy on site and used this week to clear it, after this week i think if i hadn't had this time at home i would never of caught up with it. I thought i could see the light at the end of the tunnel today but it turned out it was some fucker with a torch bringing me more work
-
So it came off ok then
-
Weather is looking good here to but no good to me as I'm in quarantine for another week, So if i start typing more incoherent shit than normal the lock in is getting to me lol

A Used-Bike Habit For Lifelong Safety
Sir Fallsalot replied to Hugh Janus's topic in MOTORCYCLE CHAT
Got to say you never lube throttle tubes it creates a paste that wears things out and makes the throttle action slow. Also the same with cables modern cables are Teflon lined and are self lubricating if the cables are stiff throw them away and buy new ones -
Don't it work like this at 1.35
