Thought id start one in the words of Pete (i just copied and pasted them ) It's not too bad here...... …..but I've got a busy couple of days fitting a fence. dont think i'll get out on any of the bikes this weekend. I don't suppose anybody's doing anything of interest though? I know it's unlikely to be riding your bike.......but any old shit you can add to keep the board moving is OK. Yes......we're that desperate!

When i first had the CB1000 i rode it home from Canterbury and thought i'd run it until it hit reserve which it did at about 220 miles on a duel carriageway about 5 miles from my house turned it to reserve and the tank was empty had to get the wife to bring a gallon to me. When i got home and had a look at it someone had removed or lost the long pipe off the fuel tap so it was always on reserve. I had to get rescued another twice by the wife before i finally fixed it

Good to hear from you, the rumours that you were a human popsicle lost in the back of your camper on some frozen mountain are untrue then.

Punishment for driving offences is a joke. I think if you want to get away with murder just kill someone with your car. I was pissed off when i heard what the twat had for knocking me off my bike and leaving the scene of the accident because he had no insurance i had worse punishment for speeding on a motorway.

I had the model before that but put the disc front end on it because the twin leading shoe front brake was lethal when cold and useless when wet fucking thing had me off a few times
-
you have to be careful i bought the dog as a cheap winter hack that i didn't care about and it got under my skin and found it my go to bike for pottering around on and now i'm stuck with it every time i break it i'm like a medic giving CPR to a child praying it survives.

Not sure about the vigor but if it's genuine mileage and been kept out of the weather i cant see why it wouldn't be a good bike. Something to look out for are parts they are getting harder to find now, for example i just rebuilt the rear suspension on my Dominator and found most of the bearing collars for the suspension linkage are no longer available and i ended up having to make one myself so check for play on the suspension and wheel bearings when your there. Not sure if the Swingarm pivot bolt is a problem with these bikes the XR has a habit of seizing in there but the setup is different between the two bikes. Splines can wear on the front sprocket drive shaft but again shouldn't be an issue on a low mileage bike Something you wont be able to check is the 650 engine had a problem with the cylinder heads cracking between the valve seat and spark plug hole which can let the valve seat drop out when they get hot. Another issue because of their age is the flexible part of the oil feed pipe from the frame to the engine can collapse internally and starve the engine of oil and you won't know about it until it happens shouldn't be a problem on a low mileage bike though. Read up on how to check the oil level as its a dry sump and a pain to check sometimes. Ask the owner to explain to you how to check the oil level and see if he knows how to do it correctly that should give you an idea if he is mechanically sympathetic or not.
