Fortunately, he's a tough kid...built like his Dad. He's got a coupla broken ribs & a fractured collar bone. So grateful he's fixable. Looking forward to seeing him next week.

It's about 108 miles to Richland WA 1 way.... & it's 280+ miles to Portland from my place. The route I'll be taking to John Day is longer as it's through the center of OR...but MUCH more pleasant as it's on a 2-lane vs. that bloody Interstate.

That's the way it's been here this year....snows at night but melts off by the next afternoon. We had 5-6 inches of snow this time last year....only good thing is that it's cheaper to heat the house when the temps are in the 40'sF during the day....& hasn't got any lower than 23F at night.

Had 1 of these handed to me from my brother....was my 1st full size motorbike. He & I always referred to it as the "Bacon Slicer" due to the rotary valve intake...

Gotta drive to Richland WA on Monday... to order a new threaded collar for my arm....hook is loose as a goose & about to fall out. Then I'll probably be traveling to Portland area on Tuesday to visit w/ some old friends, see my grandson who was just in a head-on collision on New Years day....& then help another old friend finally move outta Portland to John Day OR...so I'll be racking up around 1k miles by next Friday. Spending today putting away Christmas decorations & getting another Ride in...

Damn straight....during that 4 day ride, I didn't stay @ any hotel or motel either....just stuffed my sleeping bag in right behind the headlight..no need for a bunjie cord. Amazing how much weather it could keep off ya as well.

I too, had a coupla Honda's....'93 XR 80 w/ a mid 80's motor. It was originally a 9th birthday present to my oldest grandson...& was an absolute blast to ride in the snow. After many years of riding & fiddling, I completely rebuilt it...brand new top-end...cam, valves, springs, piston, rings...Barnett dirt-digger clutch...wrapped & sprayed exhaust w/ aftermarket alum can. He's now 27 y/o & came last Memorial day from NM to collect it along w/ my XT 600 Sumo. The other Honda I owned was an '83 VF 750 Sabre. The motor was quite smooth w/ a broad powerband...but doing carb work on it was a bit of a bitch...ONLY complaint I have of it. I did my longest ride on it back in 2011, when I rode down to Parker AZ & back in 98 hrs.....2500 miles in just over 4 days.
