Haha I like your take on this, also on old men. Oh the stories I can tell about old men... the Vietnamese ones were shameless. One dude groped my tits in front of his wife and neighbour, because he thought it was so funny that I had breasts underneath my motorcross armour....

In Kuching the dealer wiped my ECU but didn't do the 15 minute reset so the FI was all over the place. I'd been riding the bike for 60,000 km so I knew exactly how it was supposed to feel - but I didn't know that FI wasn't right. So I applied throttle exactly as I always did, and the bike cut out and I fell on my face in the gutter while trying to turn out of the dealership. An old man came up to me and said, "Your skill is very weak." I was so pissed lol. Nobody believed me that the bike wasn't right, and it got worse and worse until it became unrideable on the remote West Coast of Sumatra, and it took me three days to figure out wtf was wrong and fix it myself. I cried in the carport of the dingy hotel that didn't change sheets between guests, and the owner felt so sorry for me that he bought me some fried chicken. The end.

Is there someone who can explain to me the implications of whether you ball hone or replate a nikasil cylinder? I need to source two new pistons, piston rings, top end bearings and a couple of gaskets to rebuild the top ends of two 2019 EC300s. This is way beyond my technical knowledge but my mechanically competent friends are Thai, and they don't speak English. So I need to order the right parts for them. In order to do that, I need to know what the hell is going on. I was looking at the 8077-DB Wossner Piston kit but the supplier has come back to me and said, "you do know it's a nikasil cylinder - are you going to ball hone or replate?" and I need to understand the implications of that, so I can make sure that I'm ordering the right parts (and that, when we send the cylinders to bangkok for reconditioning, we get them either ball honed or replated, whichever is the correct approach). Is there anyone who would be kind enough to help me understand this better?

What better way to communicate without using our words than by spamming each other with gifs? Drop your favourite moto gif in this thread, it can be a kind of library for the non-wordy amongst us. In other news, I made myself into a gif, and I feel gleeful about it for puerile reasons I don't understand https://imgflip.com/gif/5ubrji

Yeah but the Tiger is high-end triumph with dreamy suspension and traction control tech. The Trident is the consolation prize that Triumph made for the people who can't afford a Triumph. Don't do that to yourself.

CB500x will send you to sleep. Heavy, gutless, vanilla power delivery, comfortable, snooooooooze. At least you can motard the hell out of the crf300 and hurl it through corners like a delinquent, bundle of fun. And it's also a real dirt bike if you want to put knobbies on it. No contest, mate!

OMG that's what I need to read next! I love Lemmy, what a fucking legend. I've been reading Debbie Harry's autobiography and it's boring me to death, girl can't tell a story.

Woa, he is NOT well preserved. Nikki Sixx is doing better, apparently giving up your heroin addiction helps? Even Keith Richards is looking old these days...

Just finished reading Nikki Sixx's The Heroin Diaries. Goddamn they were rock stars. And a lot of it wasn't pretty. The book is supposedly about how bad it is to be a junkie, but it's also heartfelt homage to absolute craziness. Talk about living on the edge of life and death. Now I'm not saying you should try this at home, nor that you should try to be like Sixx (as you'd expect of a lifelong rockstar, he can be quite the dick as well) but there is something in there to be noted about living a creative life and falling on your absolute face at the bottom of the deepest hole, and getting back up again. Reminds me to be bold. On the other hand, just started reading Blondie's book and - like the live performance I saw - it's sending me to sleep.

Some days are off days. Some days I can't ride for shit and I have no idea why haha. It's something of which I became acutely aware when I was riding every day during the first couple of years of my trip. Some days, you just need to give up and chill tf out before you get run over by a truck or fall off a cliff...
