  1. Wow, what a trip and great ride reports. So many pictures I was going to comment on, but I should be booking some stuff for my next few days of travel. Enough of the warmth and sand, back to snowy highways. I’m happy for you as it sounds like your adventure was really good for you.
  2. I am….. It is snowing in the mountains across the way.
  3. Feeling better today. Started in the dark which was fun and now I wait for a ferry. Should be the last ferry I “have” to take for awhile. It’s a beautiful and chilly morning.
  4. Yep, not sure exactly where I will be on the day but I will be driving. It is kind of fun travelling during the holidays. I’ve never done it, so there’s that, but everything is a bit more sparkling this time of year, and I like sparkles. I will also be in the snow, which is only proper during the holidays.
  5. Today was departure day. I now have two weeks of driving across Canada ahead of me. Hoping the weather stays mellow. It was a difficult day. As I had been living in the place where I sold my home last Spring it almost felt like I was preparing to leave all over again. Saying good bye to some folks we met and their dog was also hard, too many good byes for me this year. Tomorrow will be better, or perhaps just less emotional. I think I am still nervous about the journey, that will also pass. Positive thinking…..
  6. I took it through high school so I can get by ok. As long as the person doesn’t speak too quickly that is….
  7. It’s my last weekend on the Coast. Departing from camp on Monday. Spending time getting the vehicles packed and adventure ready. Visiting with some friends and stopping by a few places one last time. It’s getting hard to sleep as the excitement builds. I just want to get rolling now. I guess I will spend some more time looking at weather forecasts and practicing my French. Have a nice weekend everyone.
  8. New shoes all around, and a spare. The van now has tires that can drive on the highways in the winter. You can be ticketed and have to pay if you drive with the wrong tires in Canada. Plus we got our spare carrier installed and a spare purchased. Feel much better with that. Then the 4Runner got some new All Terrain tires, some lovely Nokians. I haven’t gone far on them, but damn they are nice tires so far.
  9. We figure two weeks, depending on weather. We depart in a week, so we should be on the east coast on or after Christmas.
  10. Oh I know all about GPS and remote places. I did just spend a month in the North on one of the most remote roads in Canada. We are sticking to the TransCanada this time so I am not too worried. Moose, all good! I have dealt with Elk, deer, bear, coyote, dogs, cats, lots of elk and deer, did I mention elk….
  11. Thought I posted some house stuff one day on the Today thread when we were talking, good luck finding anything there after about an hour. Or maybe it’s on this thread, oh dear I’m not sure now….two old ladies we are…..
  12. See, with a bit of TLC you are back to nice guy mode.
  13. I made a lovely post explaining everything, but no worries… I am moving to eastern Canada, Nova Scotia. Driving across the country as of next week. Should be a snowy adventure!
  14. Rocking chair for sure!!!! Funny enough I tried the knitting thing this summer and found it very frustrating…. …. and Grandma made it look so easy!
  15. It doesn’t have a thing, not even appliances. Months ago I would have been no way…. But now I am actually looking forward to getting things for the house. It will help me to get to know the new area we will be living in. It’s also so different from my first house when I was at work more than home and had no money. This time I have lots of time and a bit of cash so it will be fun to get my old lady home ready.
  16. I do have a few cameras with gimbals, but all this footage was hand held.
  17. Yourself? Or did I miss something…..
  18. Thanks, with lots of practice….some days it would take me a few takes to get a smooth pan, always worth the time. I fell in love with Boya Lake this summer. We were there twice as I went back the second time to lay my Mom’s ashes to rest. I’m sure I will return again. Beautiful canoeing and to visit Mom.
  19. Way to aim high young man.
  20. It’s a slippery slope…..watch your step….
  21. I’m honestly confused, for so long you seemed like such a nice fella. Now you seem……well, just not that nice fella….
  22. I put together another video from my travels, this one highlights August. It was a good distraction while I wait to depart on my winter road trip.
  23. Those are great signs, the first one made me giggle, but the second is so cool. I’ve never been in a place with camels running around.
