  1. The paved road getting this far was prety decent - smooth as you like with lots of curves and elevation changes...
  2. Only titled like this as I rode through the small town of Montezuma today on my way to soem dirt roads that I wanted to ride a bit. Started the ride off down by the Lake before heading up higher...
  3. Taken today just for this thread...
  4. Where was this taken? Doesn't look like an allied tank (not that I'm an expert). Pretty cool pic though!
  5. Have to look at my bank account, but I may be a few euro short of buying that house. Excellent ride report that has it all; evil birds, big assed cannons, Lycra twats and historical buildings. I like it!
  6. I'm not going with the train pic as there's no "adventure" in it - just a bike sitting next to a train. How about this one? Middle of nowhere on a dirt road - has some adventure in it.
  7. Sounds like a good way to get your ass kicked in the South.?
  8. Same here - dunno why they put some greasy assed cheese all over stuff. I like it sometimes, but usually scrape about 1/2 of it off. The side dishes with the ribs are always left alone and untouched. It's enough of a job just to kill the ribs & beers for me. Don't like the coleslaw and cinnamon apples either.
  9. Our local leaves a bit to be desired. The Bread Bar; only open 2-3 nights per week, seats about 15 people and located in an old wood framed general store on a dirt road. Quaint without trying to be - just an old bar out in the sticks...
  10. I think that I like the smell of bbq more than the taste. Couple of large, cold beers and some ribs is perfect for me.
  11. You'd be a fat fuck like me in no time at all. Pedro is gonna smoke us all with some weird food pics as soon as he sees this thread.
  12. I always liked poutine, dunno why. Looks like shit on a plate but tastes great!
  13. On my solo trips, I usually arrive at the hotel late, shower and just get a pizza delivered. We don't have any delivery of food where I live so it's a real treat to get food delivered. Shacked up at a Marriott somewhere in Oklahoma...
  14. I don't eat a lot of meat, but do have a love for bbq ribs when they're available. My riding buddy Dave and I had some smallish racks of ribs in Tennessee last year...
  15. How about this one? I don't even remember what it was supposed to be, but I do remember that I got it at the Golden Burro restaurant in Leadville, Colorado. I think it was chips with green chile on top, some beans and cheese of some kind. Feckin' Americans will dump cheese on top of anything.
  16. The USA has some pretty odd food that you'll encounter when on trips through the country and I loike to at least try them. Some are really good, others not so much. Show me what you've found and where you found it.Here are a couple from me. First is from Gold Star Chili in Kentucky. This type of chili comes from Cincinnati, Ohio where a Greek immigrant started serving it this way. Aside from a small amount of cheese, there is chili, onions, beans and spaghetti noodles in there. Then, as a side, are two cheese coneys; hot dogs in a bun slathered with chili and a bit of cheese. Sounds gross, I know, but it is delicious after you scrape about 1/2 of the cheese off. Second, a breakfast burrito from Tia Sophia's in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A folded tortilla wth sausge and eggs, peppers inside. Covered with both red and green chile (Christmas style) and a bit of melted cheese on top. Fuckin' heaven, I tell ya. I hit Tia's on every trip through Santa Fe. Finally, my usual lunch. A cold diet soft drink and some cracker type things called "Combos". They're little brick-like round crackers with some odd sort of flavor thing in the middle. Some shade and a map and I'm set. Usually eat this while sitting on a curb at a fuel station someplace.
  17. Please do. Loved going to pubs in England and Scotland to try ales that I'd never heard of before. None of them were bad, just some better than others. Ours are open now, but nothing special about too many of them.
  18. That's how it all starts....
  19. Cool lookin pub - makes me want a pint right now.
  20. Nice pics! The Abbey looks cool - love stuff like that.
  21. Sorry - looked like a lake to my uneducated eyes. Still, I need a villa on the banks, some nubile, lithe woman pouring wine down my gullet while I lounge on the verandah. Yup, that's what I need. Great pics!
  22. Nice! I need a house on the banks of that lake.
  23. Looked pretty rough 20 years ago - nice rehab job by someone. I like the old pics of places and then a new pic of the same place. There;s a guy on youtube that does this with WWII sites. Fascinating to watch. edit: here's a link to what he does. Wish I had the patience to do videos like this. see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n63u-iHggSA
