  1. Next day and we suited up for a longer ride to Arizona and back. Stopped off by the Taylor reservoir and watch the rains blow by. Bet the guy in the boat got wet ...
  2. We're shrouded in deep snow and frigid temps now, but I was looking at some pics from my last ride of 2023 from September and thought I'd share. My bud Todd came over from Missouri and spent a day riding around my home area, visiting old gold mines again and riding dirt roads.
  3. It's pretty much 1:1 right now - or close to it. Pints (and I'm talking US pints which are smaller in the first place) are running $7 each around here. $10 for a pint in Vegas was a new high for me. Add in the tip money and it's $12 a pint there. Back to the wife's hotel where it's free....
  4. I didn't - but wasn't really looking for them, either. Not that I know who it is - will look up threads and see. edit: I see it's Marcel from Canuckistan. Afraid I don't know him yet. What did he do to achieve eternal Twatness?
  5. Spent Xmas in Las Vegas while the wife worked - her firm took over a hotel there. I walked around and paid too much for beers all over the place, so yeah, it was good!
  6. Las Vegas this week - $10 for a 12 oz,plastic cup of warm beer....
  7. One day. It lasted one freakin' day.
  8. Today, Tuesday, dawned cold and rainy in Bangor. High today of 50F / 10C and rain with wind. Perfect - can't wait to ride in this shit all day. More pics later ........
  9. As has become de rigueur, we hot the hotel bar for dinner as we were too tired to go anywhere via Uber. It was an American version of an Irish Pub. Crap food but the beers were good - so it was a good imitation of an Irish Pub...........
  10. Roadside park had a cool water feature that looks like it used to generate electricity at one point in time...
  11. It actually got hot as we headed for Maine - about 84F / 29C, so Todd had to shed a few layers at a roadside park ...
  12. A Cog Railway at Mount Washington, New Hampshire. Climbs the hill for a fee - we didn't do the ride though ...
  13. Vermont, New Hampshire and into Maine all in one afternoon. Thanks to very small States....
  14. I'm in Bangor, Maine tonight and have right at 2,700 miles so far. Has been fun!
  15. A few more random pics; Ski jump at Lake Placid where they held the 1980-ish Olympics Some others....
  16. Yes! Sunny skies and a high of about 75F / 24C so it was nearly perfect. Expecting it to be a bit hotter today.
  17. Arrived at our hotel around 8:15 PM and sought out a place for dinner. Only to find that most places close at 8:00 por 9:00 PM. Our only option was the bowling alley down the street. I can't describe how bad that place was. Hopefully something better today will pop up as we cross into Maine. More later.....
  18. Highlight of the day was in Essex, New York where we crossed the lake into Vermont. What a cool little town with great stone buildings from the 1830's dominating the local architecture. Ferry ride was nice as well...
  19. Lunch was wholly forgettable at a small roadside café. Had a cool semi-circular bar but that was about it...
  20. Sunday we crossed New York and rode through the Adirondacks. What a let down. The "mountains" are like the "Peaks" in the Peak District - so they're not mountains at but rolling hills. Lots of traffic and kinda crappy little towns we passed through. I won't be back. Did see a cool beach on Lake Ontario though...
  21. We're not sure that the battery was the problem but since replacing it the problem has not surfaced again. But it could only be a matter of time......
  22. That sump hole looks painful. But good result on the field repair.
  23. Today we are done with the shitty highway riding and into the better stuff in the Adirondacks. Hope to get some good riding pics and more interesting stuff to see and do. More later .......
  24. Then Todd orders Brussel sprouts and a sausage for his dinner. Who the fuck does that? Things smelled like burnt ass ....
  25. After Dave's bike took a shit on the highway and stopped dead (dash error said "key low" which we assumed was the battery in the key fob being dead) we stopped for a few on the side of the road. The bike finally restarted and ran well for the last 30m miles to the hotel in Rochester, New York. Bought a new battery for it, so we'll see. We made it to the hotel and had every intention of going out for a nice dinner someplace. Never got past the hotel bar though....
