Another hundred miles up the road and I passed the Virginian Hotel; built in 1901 at a train stop. The train no longer stops but the hotel is still open...
-
They had a little abandoned Fossil Museum on premises. Looked like someone was trying to shore it up with steel I beams....
-
Abandoned house number 3 was about 100 miles down the road from the last one. Stone construction this time...
-
Across the street was an abandoned school. It was fenced off and I couldn't get closer. Out in the middle of freakin' nowhere....

Yup - until my bud Todd meets up with me somewhere in Montana. Dunno when that'll be, hopefully by Saturday. He's coming over from Missouri.

Into Wyoming. Most US states have a big welcome sign as you enter the state. Not Wyoming; tiny little sign that looks like a road sign. Nice one Wyoming. (It was really dark at this point so my flash kinda ruined the pic)
-
Saw my first abandoned house, but I was trying to outrun the cold front and rain so I shot a pic on the fly...

Crossing into Wyoming, the weather went to shit. Strong winds, temperature dropped back into the 40's and rain. Perfect....

Yup, summer's pretty much over high in the mountains where we live. Have to go low for heat until next year.

After fuel, I rail up Route 125, passing the burn scar from last year's fires again. Loads of silt has washed down the hills, leaving huge deposits next to the roads
-
Little over an hour later and I hit the first fuel stop. Where, you ask? None other than my fave; Kum and Go ! Temp was down to 44F.....

Got up early and hoped to get a jump on things, but it was 39F/ 4C when I wanted to go. I decided to wait a bit for it to warm up before setting off. Waited until 6 AM and it got up to 48F / 9C so off we go!

It didn't . Not that I expected it to, really.

They're really nice tires - good mileage out of them, too.
-
Probably the last long one, might get in an overnight or two later.

Headed north in just about 7 hours to visit Montana and Wyoming again. Hope to get some abandoned buildings pics (gonna be hard to match @Pedro 's latest though!). Spent the past day getting new tires thrown on the scooter so I'm ready to go at first light. On to Buffalo, Wyoming tomorrow. Will be riding solo for the first 1,400 miles so I should be able to make really good time. More pics as they come in....

Quinta da Marquesa, riches, hidden treasure, history abandoned

Great shots. Pedro. I'm really diggin' the red chair, too. -
Smart man.

And it's in the proper Ducati color; yeller.

Agreed. Definitely touristy but well worth the time it takes to tour it.

Pish - been there three separate occasions over the years -and the Yeomen are pretty funny. It's a good tour though. I even got to stand on some old dude's wall on one trip to the UK...
