  1. Miner's Memorial to all of the guys that died in these mines - and there were lots of them!
  2. Another mine across the valley that I've never been to as there's no road to it. My fat ass isn't gonna hike up the hill to see it, either. So you'll have to settle for a long range shot...
  3. A hammer mill that also crushed ore. Had to be loud as shit when in operation....
  4. Steam engine and water tank (riveted together from the days before welding)....
  5. Check out this old ore crusher. Looks like train wheels in a circular track - they dumped rocks into the track and the turning wheels crushed them. Power by a steam engine via a big assed pulley belt and a right angle drive...
  6. Cruised the Coeur D'Alene mine in the hills above town...
  7. Didn't go far, just rode around the 'hood looking at old stuff. Old stone out buildings at the Centennial House...
  8. Doing oil change, rear diff change and a new set of tires this weekend in prep for the August trip east. At least that's my goal - probably won't do much more than just buying the oil.
  9. Fraternal organization. They're still around, see: https://www.pythias.org/
  10. Tried to park right where the man was walking. Masonic Lodge is still in decent shape...
  11. The Gregory Gold Mill - not a lot of it left...
  12. The Bobtail Mine - located near city center...
  13. Knights of Pythias Hall - 1880 and today...
  14. Lace House - restored Victorian home...
  15. Williams Stables - downtown...
  16. No shit - and that's our Main Street!
  17. Crook's Palace - an old saloon no longer open...
  18. The Bull Durham barn / casino, ca. 1975 and today....
  19. Old stage stop between Black Hawk and Golden, CO. Built in 1870....
  20. A "ghost" town. No one lives there now and just a few buildings remain. It's on the outskirts of the town I live near. But most small towns in our area have unpaved roads; towns with only 20-23 residents.
  21. I'm not Our county only has 3-4 paved roads in it as most of the roads are very rural. None of our roads are paved...thus the need for a Super Tenere. The winters are pretty brutal on paved surfaces here, so there aren't too many of them.
  22. Building behind the man walking with 7 windows across the top and stables next door.....
  23. Here's an old pic of the town. The Fire Dept roof can be seen one right - with the bell tower frame on top...
  24. Well there used to be a town surrounding it. Now it's all that is left.
  25. Found another one in my archives from my town. Need to get out and take some pics and continue the thread...
