  1. Same - sitting here freezing my ass off at the PC. 47F/8C here now. Hope it warms up a bit,
  2. Earache

    Winter

Let me know where you want it and I'll ship some over to you...
  3. I'm 6'1" tall and weigh north of 240 lbs. - would make a shit pillion.
  4. @William The first bunch of pics on this ride report are from the route I posted above. See:
  5. Try taking 40 west out of Denver to Just north of Kremmling. then west on 134 to Toponas and Route 131 North to Phippsburg. In Phippsburg, take Route 8 West to Meeker and Route 64 West towards Dinosaur and regain Route 40 West. You'll miss a lot of the traffic that way. I did a ride report of this route last year, will see if I can find a link to it.
  6. Howdy and welcome, William! As for Route 40 west of Denver - avoid at all possible costs. It's currently being used as the detour route around the I-70 closure at Glenwood Canyon and is a massive clusterfuck right now. I-70 is closed due to mudslides and should remain closed for another couple of months. Where in Utah are you headed? Some nice rides between Denver and Utah.
  7. I'd say that about 65% of the buildings in our town are just like this - empty and falling apart. Just not enough money to save them all. It'd be nice if they could.
  8. Not sure. Assume one was a storage area and the other may have been a summer kitchen, etc. Same construction as the house that I posted in my "Then and Now " thread.
  9. Couple of shots of town from up here. Smoke from the California wildfires is blowing through this week...
  10. Old office next to the Coeur mine. Door was locked and I saw no easy way in, so I stayed out. Diggin' the tin roof!
  11. Miner's Memorial to all of the guys that died in these mines - and there were lots of them!
  12. Another mine across the valley that I've never been to as there's no road to it. My fat ass isn't gonna hike up the hill to see it, either. So you'll have to settle for a long range shot...
  13. A hammer mill that also crushed ore. Had to be loud as shit when in operation....
  14. Steam engine and water tank (riveted together from the days before welding)....
  15. Check out this old ore crusher. Looks like train wheels in a circular track - they dumped rocks into the track and the turning wheels crushed them. Power by a steam engine via a big assed pulley belt and a right angle drive...
  16. Cruised the Coeur D'Alene mine in the hills above town...
  17. Didn't go far, just rode around the 'hood looking at old stuff. Old stone out buildings at the Centennial House...
  18. Doing oil change, rear diff change and a new set of tires this weekend in prep for the August trip east. At least that's my goal - probably won't do much more than just buying the oil.
  19. Fraternal organization. They're still around, see: https://www.pythias.org/
  20. Tried to park right where the man was walking. Masonic Lodge is still in decent shape...
  21. The Gregory Gold Mill - not a lot of it left...
  22. The Bobtail Mine - located near city center...
