The Cove used to be our go to California destination. But the hotel prices have gone outta sight so we don't stay there anymore. Shame as I really like the seclusion of the place, watching sea lions on the rocks and deer in the yards......

It was getting hot out (102F / 39C) so we headed across the hills towards the coast and cooler weather.....
-
Riding through the trees was probably one of the better rides of the trip. Roads were perfectly smooth, uncrowded and nice weather....

Pics were crap as not enough light made it to the forest floor - blocked out by all of the towering trees......
-
After our first night at the Hotel Swanky, we're riding through the Redwood Forests - huge assed trees....

Great post - love old buildings, etc

We've landed at a small, crappy hotel in the woods. Headed out today to ride around a bit. More later........

We are about 200 miles north of SFO now. No people around; just us and the water. The wide open areas devoid of anything manmade are a refreshing view, The road goes inland at times, taking us through redwood forests before depositing us back on the coast. Kinda cool.

After SFO, we're on the coastal road leading to northern Cali. The temps dropped dramatically and there's a constant on shore sea breeze mixed with bright sun. Hard to beat the weather....

.Slept overnight at a really nice hotel in downtown San Francisco courtesy of my wife's company. Best hotel of the trip. They opened up a locked bar area and let us grab what we wanted. Bar and restaurant still closed due to Covid. Up the next day and headed north. Passed some little red bridge....

Gotta love Cali for fuel prices. Almost double what it is back home. Their taxes make for high prices.

This road had loads of curves plus good elevation changes. The surface was beyond smooth. Such a joy to ride.
