Seymour Asscrack
Published in: NewsMarch 26-29, 2020 will be the 15th edition of March Moto Madness. The Tellico Plains, TN event began from humble beginnings in the Spring of 2005. Five riders, motorcycles (not even all dual sports), tents and unpredictable weather. The combination resulted in a tradition that has become a rite of passage for some and a reoccurring, must do, event for many. Every spring brings 75 hours, 3.125 days, of Moto Madness. Held in the southern Appalachian Mountains, in the shadow of the Cherokee National forest and in the heart of the some of the best riding found anywhere on the planet, MMM has grown from those initial 5 friends to encompass events in worldwide locations such as Australia, Belgium, California, England, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Spain, South Korea. The largest, and original, being the Mother Rally held in Tellico Plains. March Moto Madness, the Mother Rally, 2019 hosted 750+ riders from across the United States astride a wide variety of brands, styles and sizes of motorcycles. Large touring bikes, ADV bikes, dual sports, KLR’s, cruisers and even a few sport bikes and Groms thrown in for good measure. The riding opportunities are plentiful and the area attracts a variety of riders with adventurous attitudes and a spirit of openness to whatever the journey, and the weather, can throw at them. 2020 will be the 15th rendition of MMM and will offer a new Cherokee Challenge route, the addition of a Skills course (slalom, full lock turns, figure 8’s) that will challenge all comers but not include extreme conditions like the Trials Coarse that throws every obstacle available at the participants. (Mud, creeks, rocks, logs, whatever the twisted minds of the coarse builders can come up with). The Hill Climb challenges participants to become the King of the Mountain. Last, and certainly not least, are the eats. MMM includes 5 meals, as well as 3 nights camping, during the event. Fri, Sat & Sun breakfast, with coffee each morning, and Fri & Sat night dinners are all site prepared by our own chefs and volunteers. Shared meals have always been a big part of MMM and they continue to be. With a menu that is as varied and robust as the riders that come together and make March Moto Madness greater that the total sum of its parts. For 2020 the MMM vision remains the same. For the rider, by the rider. The continued growth and camaraderie of those brought together for 3.125 days each March is proof of the bonds forged at March Moto Madness. In the end, it’s all about the people.
