I had a message from blunder road (thunder road) motorcycles to say the brake pads for the XR were in, so decided to take the dog via the little country roads to Bridgend to pick them up, when i get there they sure lived up to their nick name they ordered me rear pads instead of the fronts I'd asked for? so i bought them to keep in the spares box. That means another visit next week, ahh well it got me out on the bike and i stayed out for another couple of hours, it was wet and windy but the waterproofs kept me dry quite enjoyed it. only took a couple of photos twas a little wet you see
The road to the bike shop is not the best or it is the best depending on how you look at it ?

Why don't you just order pads on e-Bay Fred?

I was going to go to Azambuja tomorrow, by car, but I just saw on tv that Oliveira got Pole Position for tomorrow's MotoGP race in Portugal.

I might just stay here to see it, I'm tight with money so there is no MotoGP on my home :classic_laugh:

Had almost nothing fresh at home for lunch, so some toast with olive oil, fresh light cheese, and a generous topping of onions and sardines cooked with plenty of paprika for a kick:

And Oliveira won by 4 seconds, first place from start to finish, what a way to win his first race in Portugal, I'm very happy for the kid. Were we not in lockdown the Autodromo (and Lisbon) would have erupted :littleguy:

Indeed, I am curious as to how everything would have happened facing an operational Marquez, we'll see next year.

2020 as a season would have been totally different if Marquez had been there.

I feel sorry for Joan Mir......he's got the championship but everybody knows (including himself) it wouldn't have happened if Marquez had been there.

There's levels......Marquez.......and then everybody else.

I agree, but that's often the case when the superior or dominant rider hurts himself, Rainey, Doohan, not falling or not hurting yourself is a big part of winning and the responsibility is theirs. Mir didn't hurt himself.

A part of Marquez's dominance is his aggressiveness, without that risk propensity he wouldn't ride the same, it goes hand in hand.

He was lucky to go as long as he did before getting a bad one.

But he won't change.......it'll be balls to the wall again next year!

My "son" (long story, but a good one) said he wanted to see the Baja1000.  Something i've always wanted to see, too.  So, we arranged for a third buddy (fluent in spanish and baja) and headed off last Thursday evening.  Checked the gummit websites to see if borders were closed (they were), but have had several riding friends crossing over and back.  I guess dirt riding in Baja IS an essential activity.

Got a great BNB in Ensenada ("son" is a non-rider, so we drove) and spent all day at Osos Negros, on Hwy 3, watching the bikes, quads, trucks, beetles and what not.  Came back to Ensenada saturday afternoon to an excellent dinner at Sano's Restaurant, before crashing into bed around 5:30 pm.  Not really lightweights, but due to scheduling errors, we had been up since Thursday morning.

Saturday was a day off (see scheduling errors) so we hit La Bufadora and then Coyote Cals for lunch.  Crossed the border into the newnited states of amurica sunday morning, after a 2 hr border wait, but we got to hang with several trophy trucks in line.

Great time and an eye opener for the kid, as it was with me several years ago.

Baja sunrises are epic!

Poor planning left us at the section where there was a 35 mph speed limit! ?

But, we got great, clear shots of the racers

Great apartment in Ensenada, on a hill overlooking the harbor.  $65/night which is crazy cheap considering hotel costs in the USA.

Best thing about Baja is that there really are few rules, and even fewer traffic police.  This trophy truck was driving thru town, on the way back to its shop.  The co-driver was asleep, which was quite an accomplishment, considering how loud the truck was.   Instant ticket on several counts in "civilized" USA

You pay your $75 fee and you can race what ya brung.

La Bufadora - the blowhole!

Love the "we arent responsible for people who dont follow the rules".  Obviously, Baja has way too few lawyers for their own good ?
