Anyway.....the job is done! Big lump of rubber at the bottom of the stand and it seems to do the job. I forgot it was on and when I put the bike on the sidestand I thought there must be a stone underneath, because it didn't drop as low it was. So it took a bit of getting used to.....and the rubber really grips the road so there's no sidestand slip whatsoever.
