This weekend I will be mostly:

making shutters:

I had 3 quotes to have our downstairs shutters replaced,  2 pairs 1m50 x 1m ish  and one triple shutter 2m20 x 1m50 ish all 3 quotes were over 3000€ !  That's just taking the piss so seeing as I have 3 weeks of furlough to deal with and the weather should be good enough to work outside  I thought I'd have a go myself.  Though I've never made any shutters, I did originally train as a marine carpenter / boat builder.  I had to clean nearly 20 years of cobwebs off this before I could start

Having no power tools other than a cordless drill, I bought pre sawn planks for about 100€,  ( doing one to stqrt with and see how it turns out) a box of screws, and a couple of thicker planks for the cross members, took the measures from the existing shuters and set to. IMG_1719.thumb.JPG.cd6f6ed32505a6ac79929595a9160dbc.JPGIMG_1724.thumb.JPG.adc29e8edfacb1a4cee8298f29b79086.JPGIMG_1725.thumb.JPG.f8c6644642501abe455a90520dc80d04.JPGIMG_1728.thumb.JPG.678658da3c7943bdcf286545468fbd53.JPG

dismantled them this morning for a 1st coat of varnish tomorrow. just then need to reassemble, 2 more coats varnish and fit to the existing hinges.  total cost around 130€ per window.

But damn, that is a nice wooden tool box, very nice! :littleguy:

Thank you, one of the last pieces I made during my year of training.

Pete said what Tym said, the search for intelligent life continues unabated.

Life is like a box of vacuumes.

As sundays a day off I usually like to spend it cooking or biking. This Sunday Ive chosen cooking which looking at the sunny forecast seems a mistake! Heyho full English on the go at the mo and I’m gonna have me some bacon for the first time in while ? the menu may have to be altered... ? ? ? ☀️ ☀️ ☀️?  Now what else to do with duck thats been slow cooking overnight?!
