yen_powell
I wonder if I could get away with 'working from home' for a week while simultaneously spending it on a Greek island with decent wi-fi. I'll bet some wanker would call an emergency team meeting that required actually physically being there. 3

They've wacked all the prices up because they have a captive holiday audience for a while. Just seen a bloke in the paper who reckons they wanted £71,000 for a week in a 5 bed holiday home in Cornwall in August. He's off to Yorkshire instead now.

Dinner was a bust, but I think I can still turn this around …

If you normally do your riding in built up areas with gridlocked traffic everywhere then they'd be good. But because I spent 50 years there it was the norm for me! Now......if I went back and rode them after 16 years here they'd be fucking awful.

Pedro
To not incur in @boboneleg's rath, I´ll post a few words this today's ride. I had a proper day's riding today, left the hotel at around 9 and headed south to the Algarve, rode through country and mountain roads, mostly small roads. It was a little chilly in the morning up to about 10 or 11AM, but as soon as I approached Monsaraz it got hot, from then on temperatures ranged between 31 to 35, it felt hotter than that though and when it got to 31 it felt cool by comparison I was in a better mood today, so stopped to take a few pictures First, storks' nests on top of telephone poles, they usually fly away when you stop nearby but managed to catch a couple: Half an hour later, stopped to send emails, and had my morning expresso in Estremoz: The full face modern helmet surprised me, and warranted a picture They say the Alentejo is big, and it sort of is for Portugal size, but I'd love it to be the size of Texas, I could ride around this for days: Warning, this thread is about to get flooded with pictures of my bike next to an Oak Tree Alentejo traffic jam, this went on for a few minutes while they figured out how to balance the panels on one single strap First sight of the Alqueva lake, from the Monsaraz Castle And a stop for lunch a snack and refreshments, it was getting warm now, so I found a nice shady spot to park And the day turned amazing, center and northern Portugal got rainy weather today: There are worse places to park for a phone call And then, near Serpa, I took a little detour from the road just for @XTreme's delection, this is an abandoned train station, so abandoned they already took the tracks away a long time ago, and it´s for sale! I am sure Pete would be up these with a puppy like excitement, but I didn't really feel the urge to it And made way, further on after a few great twisties I again got off the road to go and see a menhir. After a couple kms of loose shale dirt road I got pretty disappointed at the sight of this, they're smaller than they appear to be on the picture, the fence was just a little taller than me I didn't feel like walking to the other one, drank some more water and rode on to the Algarve hills Brief dirt road excursion in search of a great view, not very photogenic What followed was 2 hours of very twisty roads over the Algarve hills, no pictures of that unless the tires showing signs of an afternoon well spent after I got home. Searching for a decent meal in Faro proved hard, the local supermarket was already closed, a lot of places went under last year because of covid, a few of them also close on mondays, and I didn't like the crowds on the ones that were open, so uber eats came to the rescue and a pizza was had. I had a proper motorcycling day today, rode at my own pace which meant sometimes cruising admiring the scenery at very slow speeds, as well as enjoying the twisties. Tomorrow, it's going to be a little work and then a short ride to the local beach. 6
