boboneleg
Does anyone on here regularly go to a pub/bar , have your habits changed with Covid ? I can remember seeing people queueing outside our local pub waiting for it to open once they were allowed to open again. Personally I have no desire whatsoever to go to a pub, as much as they say they are sticking to the regulations regarding social distancing etc you just know that’s not going to be the case once a few drinks are downed. I don’t think I’d miss it if I never went to a pub again but I’m sure that it’s a big part of some peoples lives ?

With the prices they charge back there how can people even afford it?
Clive
We usually go to the pub for a drink and meal for a family members birthday, Last time was at the start of August for my birthday.....and we sat outside. Never been a regular at the pub, maybe being such a lightweight helps.......1 pint and I have had enough. 2
Tango
We used to go to our local every Saturday night before Covid-19. We went a couple of times since, during the summer, when we could sit outside, but I'm not sure I'd be bothered now. We may go to our local boulangerie and have a beer outside when it warms up a bit, but I'm not fussed about going anywhere that we have to go inside at the moment. 2

I'm not an Expat.....I'm an Immigrant. 2. I don't mix with Brits on a social basis. 3. I came here to work.....not retire. 4. Any free time I get (which isn't much) I want to ride my bike. 5. Modern beers with their colourings give me Migraines. So as you see.......pubs and bars have no attraction for me.
yen_powell
I did a pub quiz last week and you know about my visit to the infamous landlady at the weekend, this was followed by going to the Ten Bells, the old prossie haunt of Jack the Ripper days. 3

Doesn't sound much like a life Pete, at your age you should be trying to relive your years not sitting in your dressing gown by the fire with a cup of bovril 1

Cos I don't! I spend about 15 hours a day in front of a computer screen.......and I've done that since the 90's. Yeh.....it can get tedious! But it pays the bills! And it's not physically hard so I can do it forever.

Sir Fallsalot
Not been a regular in any pub for about 20 years, i do still go out to the local club to watch a band once in a blue moon. Most of my drinking type socialising has always been done at motorcycle events cant say i'm missing it because having a drink hits me for six for the next couple of days after i think its something to do with this diabetes.

MooN
rarely go to pubs / Bars. once a month for bike club evenings pre covid, and only once since. As there was not the slightest pretence of checking covod passes or wearing masks, we shan't be returning in the near future.

Naughty I dont know what youre talking about.. Alcohol has a huge impact on blood sugar, diabetics struggle to maintain glucose levels and are at high risk of hypers and hypos when they drink that are often mistaken for intoxication or hangover because they seem the same. If I was diabetic and wanted to drink Id invest in a much closer monitoring system that lets you adjust your intake and stick to less damaging drinks. Spirits with sugar free mixers are the go to.

Grasshopper
Since I moved to the Sunshine Coast I have not been to a pub or bar. Years ago the only choice here was a scary country bar that eventually burnt down one night..... Now it's just hipster bars that play bad music and charge too much. Besides, I worked at a club when I was younger for years and didn't see the daylight for awhile.... I was done with bars and such when I left that job. A quiet cognac by the fire is good for me, or a lovely glass of wine with dinner.
