I like Scotland but it's nearly always wet. Been a few times on the bikes, some of the locals are great others let you know they don"t want you there.
Prob still go back again.?

?Stop it.

Here's a true story Dave!

When I came over here in October 2005 I needed to return the hire car back to the UK. Got lost somewhere in France in the early hours of the morning and stopped at a service area to get directions.

The cafe was full of truckers and I tried my best to get across that i needed to get back to Britain. They weren't remotely interested in helping me. Then thinking back to French I did in school I remembered "Pays de Galles" (Wales) and told them I was from there.

Total change! They all wanted to shake my hand and buy me coffee. A few of them could even speak decent English and were telling me about how welcome they were made in Cardiff when they went there for the rugby. They fucking loved the Welsh! Eventually one of them said to follow him and he got me back on the motorway.

Now I'm not saying it's a disadvantage being English.......it's more a case of having an advantage if you're not! :classic_laugh:

You mean other than the tropical climate? My grandparents were from Methlick near Aberdeen, I spent summers there as a child and we went to Edinburgh a few times. It had good memories for me. I wanted to live somewhere with good infrastructure and resources and somewhere where reformed theology was practiced and it is a beautiful city and a gateway to incredible countryside. Far enough from my elderly mother so she does not expect me to be around all the time but close enough to get there quickly should I need to. I love it here.

Nice one! I've never even been to Scotland!

In fact I've never been anywhere other than Spain.......apart from driving through France on the way.

You're not wrong Pete.

On one of our trips to the Pyrenees we were stopped at a cafe somewhere in France. The patron brought out the coffee's and then proceeded to check out the bikes.  He got excited when he saw the Welsh flags on some of the bikes, he asked if we were Welsh. As I was the best French speaker I told him that they were all Welsh except for me .  He asked where I was from, when I told him I was English he looked at me and spat on the floor .

All my mates pissed themselves laughing, I just laughed along with them ?

I'm not surprised. It's the same old thing though, I've done nothing to offend the foreign twats.

I fuckin hate football. Any fight I had in me died many moons ago. Too old and can't be arsed.

Some of those Dumbarton girls....they drink directly from the Clyde. I’m saying nothing else as it is only 50 miles from here and I don’t want to wake up dead.

Was in a club with her when this bloke turned up giving her grief. As he went to thump her, I got my punch in first, as you do, laid him out, then two of his mates joined in. When the bouncers turned up they realised that I was Welsh and joined in as well. I got used as a football down some stairs. Cracked my nose and headache for a couple of weeks. Transpires that the guy who started it shared a cell with the woman's ex and was out to cause trouble. Savages. Cops came along and wanted to press charges but I let it go, thinking that revenge is best served cold.

I was up there years later but the club had closed down. Shit happens.
