Pedro
I don't get it, it's been announced as game changing but they now say it's 10kg lighter than a GS. The GS is lower in weight, can't see how 10kg might be such a revolution, the boxer is such a sweet thing in this type of bike I can't see the weight difference making up for it. Better offroad? Surely with the normal forks and bigger front wheel, but overall? Surely it's no 1000cc Africa Twin or KTM I was secretly hoping it would really be a world appart, but can't see it.Β

My Street Scrambler weighs nearly 30kg more than the CB500X, but the Triumph carries the weight lower, so it doesn't feel as top heavy as the Honda did. This makes the low speed manoeuvring easier for me on the Triumph. To be honest, I don't think that anyone is likely to launch a bike that is significantly better than what's already out there. It'll all come down to personal preference.Β

As an example, an MT09 is even lighter than mine at 188kg.

No wonder the bigger bike (by almost twice the engine size) is heavier.

Just saying how a bike that appears to be very minimal is so heavy......while being marketed as a "Scrambler".

As @Pedro says, more metal in it, bigger engine and wire wheels. But, because it carries the weight lower it doesnβt feel that heavy.

Yeah, "scrambler" is just a marketing thing, it's not a real serious off-roader, but it's solid enough to be able to take a bit of punishment.Β The MT10 has an alloy frame, amongst other things, to reduce weight. My Speed Triple had a nylon fuel tank to save weight. There's all sorts of places that weight can be saved. The twin, Euro 5 exhausts, on mine don't do much to save weight!

Shaving 10kg is pure bollocks, itβs still a top heavy fucker. Compared to the previous version it's quite lighter, though, the 10kg is comparing it to a modern BMW GS1250.
