Clive
My daughter (when she was single) nearly managed to escape to Spain....she got a job in a bar in Arroyo del la Miel...she was there for around 8 months...then the English owners fled back to the UK leaving her stranded with no job....so we had to fork out to get her back here.

They start as lazy chimney sweep assistants at the age of four in Spain, this gets them an extra 12 years of pension contributions.

Can't boast about under the table money and then complain about low pension, Pete, that's the game.

I did 35 years in the UK and the wife isn't eligible for at least 6 years. Doubt she'll get much cos she only did 10 years and then had the kids.

I'm not boasting about it.....that's just the way the game is played here. Don't hate the player......hate the game. And my Pension comes from the UK (1970-2005) so it's not even relevant to anything that goes on here anyway.

However, it does come back to you on retirement eventually if you’re not limited on the top brackets.

And it actually costs around €5Kpa in self employed contributions just to do what I do. So before earning a penny and then paying tax/IVA etc you're in deep financially. Spain's system doesn't help entrepreneurial activity at all....in fact it pushes people into the black economy.

And it's a no-brainer between the two. Spain ain't perfect by any means, but considering where we came from and the environment that we grew up in, Spain has been good to us.

yen_powell
I was following a van which did a sudden violent swerve, this was the reason why. I parked up, walked back and took two pictures. Couldn't get any one to answer their phones, so I sent the pictures to the Head Of Highways then went round the corner to one of our yards and asked the emergency call out bods to do their thing. Google maps says they closed the road, right outside the sorting office as well. 2

Slowlycatchymonkey
Forgot to post these yesterday what with the excitement of hearing again but I thought you’d like ‘em anyway. Went to see the new BSA at Fowlups and make contact so they remember me when the bikes finally arrive. Couldn’t bring myself to post the one of me on the bike due to pulling a stupid face but changed my mind cos unposed pics are always better regardless of the dumb ass expression And some of Fowlups which is probably double the size of what I’ve snapped. And bonus the sales guy is the one running the bike in (shaven head long mohawk standing in the pic behind me) warmed up a lot during the conversation about bikes to the extent he did a 180 from disinterested to really chatty and took my number so he could find out the latest on the ETA. I didn’t expect to hear from him but he rang this morning and said as we were already familiar he’d give me his direct dial number and said ring at any time with any questions and I’d be getting the first bike they get in in the right colour. Pays to be pleasant. And the horrible stickers no-one likes. Aftermarket parts coming to you at exorbitant prices soon!
