Expand TLDR buy the ibuprofen and co-codamol separately and layer them. They have completely different actions so it depends on the cause of the pain. If the pain is caused by anything inflammatory (it often is) then the ibuprofen would be more effective than the codeine in co-codamol. If the cause of the pain is unknown or not inflammatory codeine which works to alter your perception of pain rather than acting on the cause would be the best choice. The nuramol if its 200/500 and you take two tablets is the full dose of ibuprofen and paracetamol which would mean you couldn't then take the co-codamol with it. Layering individual painkillers is the best way to go. That way you can take the maximum or minimum you need to control pain. Buy the co-codamol and the ibuprofen separately. Take the co-codamol and wait an hour, if thats not done the trick take the ibuprofen. These are safe to take together but are often staggered to take it easy on the liver! If this also doesn't do the trick then its GP time for something stronger but whatever they give you will likely be opitate based and these type of painkillers have diminishing returns ie you body produces more receptors for them so they have a decreasing efficacy and aren't really something you want long term. ps codeine and opiates really constipate a lot of people so if you end up going down that route then soluble fibre is a good addition! 1

The co-codamol seems to have done the trick this morning, though I probably won't be able to shit for a week now Expand Phantom pain is definitely a co-codamol thing. Try a couple of spoonfuls of this in a cup of tea or anything unfizzy. So many patients bung up after painkillers and this seems to be the most effective least awful solution. It's almost completely tasteless and doesn't alter texture like most disgusting concoctions. Although its best to start taking it before the painkillers cos once you're backed up its a different matter! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Resource-Optifibre-250g/dp/B019552U4Y?th=1
