There’s a lot of leeway in dosage on Allopurinol and if you’re suffering it’s worth frequent reviews until an optimum dose is arrived at. Most people get one increase in dose and think that’s it but that’s not the end of finding a therapeutic dose. Things like splitting a larger dose into twice a day can be very effective. Sometimes persevering with your treatment provider is the only way to free yourself. As you know allopurinol is no use at stopping a bout of gout in full swing, it only works as a preventive measure. Sometimes drugs don’t work effectively simply because the patient puts up with the symptoms rather than having the dose adjusted. Hope that’s not you?! If it’s effecting your daily living medication is worth a second/third/fourth look. It’s worth noting down the duration, frequency and intensity of your attacks and giving it to whoever in charge of your treatment 5

I think it is probably time I go and have a chat with my Dr about allopurinol again, the last time we talked about it he thought that I wasn't getting the gout regularly enough to warrant it. Not feeling that great in general so going to make the time to go and see him. Thanks for the reply

Colchicine is an extreme drug in many ways, it has a very small range before toxicity (inducing kidney failure or even death) so even tiny amounts can make you feel shite. Harsh side effects are common. Not going to say anything rude about your Dr but that plan is completely arse about tit. Allopurinol first, colchicine for emergency. If you’re on allopurinol and need colchicine then the dose is wrong. Please go back. A life free of debilitating gout is easily round the corner 2

Not sure I will get an appointment today although I have tried, but as I work for 111 I will probably be able to get an appointment with one of our GP's tonight. While not perfect it is a choice to talk to someone. I know the Colchicine makes me feel rough and I have since checked and it reacts badly with another med I am on, so now I know this I will be on it. Thank you again. Edit: Further update, Dr got back to me and I am going in at 3.30pm for an ECG, blood pressure check and to discuss my meds. Had a few more things worrying me as well as the gout so it is time to get it sorted.

Saul
Been out with the Dear Boy this morning. Normal loop for me but murky misty out there so I tried to take some different shots for a changeI always fancied this house as it is the old Trenant farmhouse and barn conversion. Lovely about half a mile from the main road but in your own little Vally. This muddy set of steps has always been called Jacobs Ladder which I suppose is a reference to the hymn of the same nameA couple of interested faces this morning looking warm a cosy on a chilly morning I always enjoy that the Saint’s Way goes right through the middle of Tregaminion farm. Proper old school farmyard. We stopped and had a mooch around the tiny Tregaminion Church. It’s gonna be beautiful there soon when the Snowdrops and Daffodils show their heads. We then walked past the gate house/lodge to Menabilly House. We disturbed a few pheasants but on the hen stayed to stare at us. Then on to our old stomping ground of Polridmouth beach the Dear Boys happy place and home. 8k in total and it was good to be out again after 8 days of unwanted rest.

Slowlycatchymonkey
Sod old school farmyards. They are GRIM. Everything in the house never escapes the faint smell of animal shit. Sod your vehicle sliding around in a gate entrance covered in detritus, sod knowing your car stinks (even though you can no linger smell it) cos you have to carry shit covered wellies in your car to cover the eventuality you’re gonna have to get out and lug a bale of straw back to put in the mud. Yep don’t miss that. Long live hard standing n best of all concrete.. VIVA CONCRETE 1
Tango
I've been out for a couple of bike rides recently, but not actually got around to posting on here. Anyway, we went for a little walk round one of our circuits that we like on la massive de la clape yesterday afternoon. It's a 10 minute drive from here. There was plenty of evidence of wild boars rooting around in the soil and stones, but we've not actually seen any there. I suspect that they're more active in the early morning or evenings, when there's fewer people about. It's a nice walk and the weather was perfect for it.

Tango
First time out on my ebike for a couple of weeks! Needed it and we covered some interesting tracks. One of the climbs was a bit of a slog and some of the rocky and loose stuff took some concentration!

I'll do it as long as I can Fred but I'll never join the feckin Ramblers I'm missing riding with Tony as he's working full time again and my weekends are taken up now but I'm sure we'll get a ride in at some time
Saul
Finally got back out with the Dear Boy today, bit wet and gloopy but still the air is fresh. We managed a 4.3 mile loop. I do enjoy a bit of beach art, I think it is because whoever did it to the time to engage with their surroundings even if it was just in a transitory way. Prolly kids, but at least they aren't on a screen for the time it took to do it. The Dear Boy know his way home Priddy primroses. We walked back up the Parade to home. Over the shoulder look back a Readymoney.
