Bruised both shins it did bloody hurt and in work last week i twatted the left shin on the vans tow bar right on the bruise and later on the large stainless steel instrument i was carrying swung down and twatted the other shin, six30 is right i'm like a frank Spencer reincarnated :classic_laugh:

You're deaf, what does it matter if she's in or not to sleep on a normal day? Have a wank or go out on the scooter, or just play loud music to annoy the neighbours.

You know what, we do not have a radio/CD player/record player in our bungalow!, even the CD/radio in the car does not work. 😂 

I will stick with my lay-in, it's warm in the bed.

So, update on the mighty GS.

Clutch rattle. Following clutch rattle and no clutch issue being obvious, an updated gearbox bearing kit was ordered, taking apart the gearbox to get it ready for the bearing kit, a flaw was noticed on one of the sprockets on the gearbox's output shaft. Taken apart, and no replacement found in the neighboring dealerships amongst loose parts, a replacement was ordered. 

Since then, we took the change to inspect timing chains and tensioners, to be replaced, and since were at it the cylinder heads came off to do it. Since they're off to do it, let's take them apart and decarbonize the heads (don't know how to say it in english apart from clean them up), turning valves and make it extra nice with a little polish here and there. We're now on a little bit of a creeper mission, BMW has made it longer with nothing ever being in stock. Everything was supposed to be ready for assembly today, but my guy took a little longer on one head than was expected as the exhaust valves were needing extra work, I suppose a lot of Moroccan fuel might have something to do with it.

I'm counting on a little bit faster and stronger engine after all is done, ready to go into the 200.000kms with confidence.

I would have paid my bike a few visits over the last few weeks, but with Costa the puppy being so sick he has (and always will) taken priority. He's doing better than two days ago, jumped out of human beds yesterday night after farting on them mid sleep, today peed against things holding a rear leg up, and barked at the scent of an enemy dog he didn't see but smelt, all progress!

Only thing I regret is not having had the shocks sent for refurbishment when the bike was stopped, that would have saved the next lay over in a year or two, but who was to know it was a going to take so long (including the dude going through the flu), but maybe I'll have a talk to an Ohlins guy and see about a replacement for the Touratech shocks I have been told sell for good money online.

It's on 122.000km, not too much but I think I have hurt it going two up on bad fuel in Morocco in high altitudes. I heard it pinging a little and it went away after fueling up (this happened a few times), so I suspected fuel quality at the time, it's been a while since.

It's possible...I can imagine running into poor fuel in remote places like that...I always carry a bottle of octane boost just for use if premium fuel isn't available...

It's not a complete over haul, it's had the timing chain replaced and valves turned and head cleaned. The bottom end is untouched, which in a boxer engine is the middle end? :classic_laugh:

The gearbox bearings and stuff: I'll take the fault for that, using it off-road while sometimes downshifting like on a motocross bike with no clutch, and in heat and heavy dust and moroccan silt

All in all, it has led a hard life, between difficult fuel, hard use in dusty and hot conditions, etc. But it'll be back for more, I love that bike.

 

The thing is, considering what motorcycling has done to my mental health over the last 6 years, riding this bike has probably saved my life. It's been more than a therapist, so I want it alive and well and ready for more. It'll see 200, 300 or 400.000km, as it won't be with me until I stop.

The sunrise this morning as we left the Grand Ronde valley....heading for ID for the missus' Dr.'s appointment.... the drive home sucked as it rained & snowed on the way back...

It didn’t take BMW this long to build the bike from scratch. This is definitely turning into a @zzzak type saga.
