Not an assumption......we've already talked about it!ย And his wife is a lovely girl who has elderly parents as well......77 and 69. She's very family oriented.

Obviously I'm assuming that I check out first based on the fact that I'm nearly 8 years older than her. Plus, women live longer than men.ย However.....her family's medical history is not as good as my family's. Lot of cancer her side, none on mine.

The wife has always said I'd outlive her, and after all these years (besides my Hernia) I'm still in pretty good shape for my age. Whereas she's had health issues for over 10 years now.ย But I've told her that should I be the last one standing I'll be staying here!

Sounds a bit morbid but at our stage of life we have to have those conversations.

ย

Well it is always something to be spoken about, possibly even more so given you're effectively on you're own and not getting any younger so should the inevitable happen you know what will happen to the survivor

Yer death plans are quite an interesting topic. One Brits shy away from lest something unbearable like an emotion might surface, heaven forbid ๐Ÿ˜†

We've told my boys to spend as little as humanely possible on cremation, keep the ashes til they have both parents crusty remains, mix them up in a tuppaware and without asking permission from anyone go and throw them (after checking the wind direction ๐Ÿ˜‚) off the edge of Burgh Island into the sea.

Should I become infirm or suffer dementia etc they are under strict instructions to not provide my care, I'd prefer a professional to do that, well meaning relatives are all well and good in theory but they're are often shit carers ๐Ÿ˜‚ so a nice care home for me, and I mean nice, the sort thats like a hotel but with one caveat, they put hidden webcams in my room so they can check up sneaky style that the staff are nice!

Me and my wife are having the cheap cremation, just from place of death to the local crem,ย  and ashes returned to family in a polythene bag.

Hope it don't happen anytime soon as our kids have made us dip into the fund.

We have saved for several years, we have got the money for a funeral for me and my wife.

But daughter wants ยฃ1100 for her Pugshiteย  gearbox repairs next week, and non working son has sent his partner round for more money for food, so they owe us ยฃ300 when she gets paid, bleeding kids.ย

Our daughter will pay us back over 3 months, non working son asking for a loan is a monthly ongoing thing, every month they run out of food money, time he got his arse to work, but its been nearly 20 years since he worked, at 43 he is getting too old to change his ways. ๐Ÿ˜กย

Yours is IMO a bit different. For whatever reason he's damaged goods who shacked up with a nutjob and bred with her before he realised what was going on (men and their dicks, it happens) and now doesn't have the wherewithal to get himself out of the situation. Thats just sad.

We cannot fathom him out, both me, my wife and daughter (she works all hours, nights/weekends) have always worked since leaving school, my wife had to finish work early with her buggered knees, but our son ๐Ÿค”ย

Son...He did have a Well paid job steel erecting, but he just walked out one day (20 years ago) and has never worked since.

He does not even sign on.....wasted the best years of his life.

Nail on the head Caroline!

He spent 11 years here, wouldn't get out and meet people or make any attempt to learn the language........then he started talking to her on Twitter.ย It's the saddest case of First Shag Syndrome I've ever known!

If I'd come here at 17 I'd have been like a kid in a toy shop with the young Spanish birds that are about! What you say @Skippy? I expect you've noticed @Six30?

And what's great is they'll fall for any old bullshit you come out with! And bullshitting females is my specialist subject!ย

I'd have been wiping my cock in the curtains all the way from Barcelona to Malaga!

I believe once your dead that's it there is nothing else so told the wife i don't care what she does with my body when i die, preferably i'd like my body to be thrown in a hedge and left to decompose naturally but that's not allowed so as an alternative if i'm cremated i said just flush me down the toilet.

Unfortunately it's people like him that will probably be ok when he reaches pension age. My mother in-law is a widower and said she wishes she didn't have her husbands pension because it pushes her income just above the amount where she would be entitled to additional benefits, she has to watch people she knows who haven't worked a day in their lives get hand outs she's not entitled to making them financially better off than her.ย

Our elderly neighbour (shuffled off now) hardly ever worked, after her husband passes away she was able to make a claim for pension credits, she use to say that she had never been so well off.

As I have said before, there 6 bungalows here, 5 of the occupiers know how to work the system, Mobility car each, one other owns 2 newish caravans that he let's out (Skeggy ๐Ÿ˜ฒ) 3 of the households have either not worked for quite a while, or at all. The youngest couple (50,s) manage to go to the Canaries at least twice a year, what do I get ๐Ÿค”.....a fucking bus pass.ย
