Clive
It seems to be a thing with Dacia,s Where my daughter works they have a Duster (67 reg),a while ago it refused to start, took it to local auto electrician he had no joy with it..they fitted a new UCH module.... programmed a new key to the new ECU, still won't start, so they are going to scrap it!..... 1 1

That's a bit of an overreaction on a 67 plate car. Can't they get a decent specialist to look at it first or even sell it as a non runner in the auction, surely they would get more than scrap value.

The place they took it to (Niel Harrod Auto Electrician) is the one of the best in town, the manageress of the care home cannot not be arsed anymore, just wants it out of the way, it's taking up parking space, so she told my daughter that they are going to phone scrap yards that collect and get shut of it........ 2

I'd say it's head removal time Clive, a new head gasket will be pennies for a dacia and it'll not be difficult to get off

Clive
Once all the components (inlet & exhaust & FI & belts) are removed it may be quite a easy process, but I only have a cheap socket set (good ones stolen when shed was broken into) which I can almost guarantee is not up to the job. Anyway I bought 4 new plugs, fitted them and started the car, no undue sounds (so my wife says ) coming from the engine, going to take a ride in it tomorrow, stick close to home incase it goes Pop.....then daughter can tow me home Thanks Rich. but I would not bother you.
Clive
It was nice to get out on the scoot to go and buy 4 new spark plugs from Euro Car parts, felt a bit over dressed, came the long (10 mile) way home.

Just shows the importance of having the Scoot as a backup Clive. I'd reinforce that with her Clive! 1
