Popped up to Damerells for the bike night tonight.   Took photos of what interested me.    Probably 100 bikes or so.   Lots of interesting stuff as always.

Is this one half way from transforming from a camaro into a giant extra terrestrial robot?

I know hideous thing but the owner was singing its praises.  Not my thing at all but interesting.

I like that Transalp!

And that CBX is absolutely stunning!

Me seeing my first CBX at Silverstone in 1978.......

That CBX only had 8,000 miles on it, like new.  I liked the 400/4 and that had covered 86,000.  Obviously rebuilt, probably more than once but cute little thing all the same.  I liked the Trans Alp but not sure about that colour, now a white one would be better.

It is a bit drab......but the TA was always a very understated bike!

So this version has some ugly scaffolding on the front end but still no sump guard :classic_wacko:

Downpipes are very low as well.

The guy at the Portuguese dealer says Honda call that a light bar, not a crash bar.

Honestly, looking at it in person I think some of the lower engine only bars they have are plenty enough for a tumble offroad. I wouldn't bother with the ugly ones that go in front of the bike. The exhaust being that low isn't the worse part, there's a sump going almost as low as that on the other side of the exhaust, that would be the primary source of bother, I would say a nice aftermarket engine protection bar and a cover will be fine enough for this bike though, there will be plenty, plus it's a touring bike with non pavement ability, not an enduro bike.

I've got a gripe with them having the engine made in China though, for that alone I would rather buy a used pre-lcd Africa Twin with the Japanese engine for myself, if I ever were to buy a Honda, even if it ends up being more money than a new one of these.

I didn't know that!

Are Suzuki the only ones still building in Japan?

But I used to ride my old Transalp everywhere , it was even marketed as a 'go anywhere' travel bike originally.  I think a lot of peeps will be expecting to do the same with this bike .
