When I was a motorcycle courier in 2012 the first bike I had for it was a cbf600 hornet which was absolutely great for the role, then the company decided to go and fuck it up by making us all ride nc750x's which were very badly suited to the role I.e gutless.

112mph flat out and drank fuel

I thought NC's were really good on fuel?

Not that I found, had to rag the fuck out of it to get it moving the 6.5k recline meant was up and down the box like a yo-yo and it only took 12L to fill the tank from memory.

I regretted it everyday when I gave up the cbf600, the job wasn't the same

Define capable, wouldn't that depend on what you're after?

It's a great beginner bike, very easy to ride. Light clutch, good breaks, nice torque (it requires some finesse to manage the accelerator at slow speeds though).

Nimble and fun to ride at slow-ish speeds and great fuel consumption.

It has the downside of all naked bikes, which is getting hit by the wind quickly, but other than that I love it.

You will get bummed by midgets though.

The bike is 2 years old today.
Haven't reached 10k km yet.
Didn't ride as much as last year, I avoided the cold winter days, but I'm still happy with it.

Since I took the day off, I went for a ride to a place well known by @Pedro and @Sofia.

(the 3.7L are not the average consumption, that's what it drank over +/- 125km)

Nice fuel consumption, I bet it was nice out there today.

It was nice while I was out, it's cloudy now. Rain should not take long to fall.

I was contacted by the dealer to make the appointment for the annual service of the CB500F and was supposed to take it to the dealer next Saturday.
I've been checking the dealer's stock for sometime now and saw this bike's ad. It got me very interested.
Called the sales guy who sold me the CB500F 2 years ago, made the deal to swap bikes yesterday on the phone and went there this afternoon to get it.
Made 76km (almost 50 miles) back home and it was great (really missed the heated grips).

It's obviously a Hornet as you can see, but it has the SC Project exhaust, the back seat cover, Honda sliders, Puig levers and lever protectors and a special edition SP stickers.
It also had some Puig mirrors that I asked to be swapped with the stock ones as they where small and freakin ugly!

What is missing and I want to add in a near future :
- Heated grips;
- Windscreen;
- Quickshift;

The CB500F is a great bike and was a great beginner bike, but this is on another level!

Very nice bike, I like the Pipe to.  I see someone has spent money on farkles for it.   I will be interested to hear how you get on as a Hornet Owner.  Did you actually test ride it or jump in both feet?   When I first rode the Hornet on a test ride, no decision to make I had to have it.  😎

I got these heated grips as they are the same as I had on my CB500F, work very well and no huge control box bolted to the handle bars like you get with the Oxford Hot grips.    I have a mate with the Standard Honda Heated grips on his CB500F and he wasn't that impressed especially as they cost more than double the price mine did.

My test ride was done on the way home 🤣.

The standard Honda grips cost around 300/340€. The sales man told me he had a cheaper option, around 180€ (don't know the brand), but he said they were a bit thicker than the standard ones.
I'll need to check if it makes them uncomfortable before I decide.

Yeah tis very like a CB500F to ride but just a very angry one, nothing not to like 😉   The Honda Grips here are £300.   I reckon my Ultimate Add Ons grips feel just like the standard ones, no thicker.  Damerells, the Honda Dealership where I bought my Hornet, recommended them and I can't fault them.   The Oxford Grips I have on my CBF600 are a bit thicker and much quicker to warm up.   They work very well but are just ugly.
