Stroud west lanes

I had a pass out today and was looking forward to some more action on the little WR.  I had been scouring the maps for the past two weeks and decided to do a loop up around Stroud to include some lanes that I hadn't done for over 10 years and also have a look at some new ones , by that I mean new to me.

The first lane was a boggy slip-fest so that got me right back into it ................

The about a mile up the road I went to investigate a new lane but found a padlocked gate blocking my access, as I rode back past the farm a woman stood there glaring at me.  So I guess we'll call that a 'no' then :classic_rolleyes:

Down through Cromhall and onto a lane with a lot more solid surface so not so much sliding around ............

I had a bit of roadwork to do now to get to Breakheart Hill.  There were signs at the bottom stating 'road closed' but I couldn't see how this affected the trail so I pushed on .  This lane is a great climb but we don't get to do it very often as there is not else around there to ride.  There was just about enough grip to get up there today without stopping ...............

Moving on from there I had to make a diversion as the road was closed at Dursley Wood.  I did a couple of short lanes and then came to this at Woodchester.  This was new lane to me and is classed as a road but there were warnings at both ends for car drivers about not following the sat-nav as you will get stuck :classic_laugh:

I dropped down into Stroud to get some petrol and a sandwich for later and then rode on to do two new lanes near Stonehouse, this one had nice 'leafy surprise'  .................

In the next village I came to I had to stop and take a photo of this.  Best Xmas  decoration ever imo  :classic_laugh:

The next lane was new to me as well and this turned out to be a glorious Cotswolds climb ....................

As I turned off the road towards Edge I saw this really great war memorial, someone has gone to a lot of effort there..............

The next lane to get back up to the main road was only short but steep and the rock steps were covered in mud and leaves.  I thought it might give me a bit of trouble but the little WR sailed up it without any fuss :classic_cool:

Next I went down the valley to Througham and on to ride the great lane at Througham Slad and the climb up to Edgeworth .............

Do you ever come across angry ramblers cause your on a bike Bob ?

Only two today , most peeps that I met today were fine 👍

I usually just ignore the angry sort unless they persist, if they do I engage them in conversation and usually find out the the wankers haven't got a clue about rights of way so I give them some education on the spot :classic_laugh:

The next lane is well known to me, I have been riding it for over 35 years.  It's called Bull Banks and used to be where Mitsubishi would test there 4X4's, the forestry vehicles had been in there recently and churned it up .............

I rode down to Duntisbourne  Abbots and rode the ford to Duntisbourne Leer.  No photos of this I'm afraid as the locals don't really like you to ride it plus it was pretty deep today :classic_ohmy:

After a bit more roadwork I got onto the MacMillan way which was pretty shitty with some big puddles in places .............

I rode the lane past Kemble airfield (yes it was open @Sir Fallsalot :classic_laugh:  and got onto the Fosseway to get home .  I stopped at the ford and had a look but there was no way I was going through that today ............

More of the Fosseway was ridden including the tarmac parts , you can see clearly from this that it's a Roman road ..............

All in all it was a great day out and this little Yamaha is really impressive as a trail bike 👍
