I can remember seeing Devonport empty at knocking off time and practically every bike out of there was a CB250N Super Dream on L Plates. It was like wacky races as the Dockyard employed 10's of thousands at that time. Lots of bigger Hondas and Suzukis in this area also around that time. I remember a chap I knows brother bought a Sportster back around 1983 and it was the first Harley we had ever seen in the flesh. Don't know why really, must have been a reason for the lack of manufacturer diversity but nobody told me. 1

I have heard him called several things but not a heterosexual, he actually traded the Sportster in for a black and gold Ducati 900 Darmah. He is a 6'3" chap with the build of a Spider Monkey and looked daft on the Sportster. Plus I think the Tractor jibes and the Sportster not being very sporty got on his tits.

As far as I remember it was just the model year, what I'd really like is the XL500R but they came a bit later

Never noticed that at all on the 250s but that was a lot less power.
