Sir Fallsalot
MOT is done on the XR so good for another year of it sitting in the garage lol. Bloody thing wouldn't start for me this morning almost ran out of hill getting it fired up and it wouldn't tick over for about 4 miles. I gave it a bit of a hiding going up through the Rhondda valley to the MOT station it seemed to be ok when i got there. The MOT station is proper old school with some interesting old characters hanging about there After the MOT i headed over the Rhigos mountain road to the Cynon Valley it was bloody cold and misty going over the top, I headed down the Cynon valley a few miles and then took the byway which i know as rocky road over to the Merthyr valley, that had me warmed up a bit I headed home along the Merthyr byway and thought i'd do a little exploring off the byway and discovered whats left of the old Cwm Pit,. it opened in 1845 and closed in 1910 it worked the steam coal seams which were close to the surface in this area and employed around 1000 people towards the end of it's life. After it closed it was retained as a water course until it was abandoned in 1924 Not sure what this was for This was the base of the old chimney which can be seen in all it's glory in the last photo There's some great tracks through the woods there i will be back on the Beta to explore more as they were a bit hard on the old XR's clutch, It started pissing down on the way home and was soaked through when i got in.
