Saul
Today I have mostly be widening my back gate to make access for bikes more manageable. I increased the opening from 33” to 41.5”. My theory is that I will be able to get my Hornet through with bar end mirrors fitted. Funnily enough I used to be able to get my R100RS through the 33” opening with care looking back it seems impossible now but I know I could and did often. Fuck me timber has become expensive. Love on the invoice you get 4” x 4” x 2.4 m post sizes. That’s British common sense right there Before Had to dig down through the 70 year old concrete path with my wood pecker of a breaker. To be fair when I was working as a gardener handy man I went through several of them over the years but they are surprisingly capable and were cheap as chips to replace. At the time a decent brand small breaker was £300 and this Aldi special was £30 and for the odd job like today it was a no brainier. After gate stretched and rehung. I am going to be redoing much of the garden over the summer and once that is completed I will get a couple of bags of chipping to put down to tidy things up.

Iam lucky as I have double gates wide enough to get the car through onto a standing area in front of my shed, but it's not very often that I have need to open the gates, I bet the hinges are seized.

I intend to build a bike shed in line with the gate opening so it should be user friendly for me and the maid to get out bikes in and out.
Saul
Remember years ago when they used to come around with aerial photos of your house selling them door to door? Anyway this shows the pinch point at the corner of my house, plenty of room in the garden but poor access.

Sir Fallsalot
Nice satisfying work Saul but if i was doing that the gate would have been full width so i wouldn't have to do it again for some unknown reason in the future

Saul
To keep up the tediousity, if that is even a word, I have been tarting up my 45 year old picknick bench. I should have binned it years ago but my Dad made it so I keep repairing it because it reminds me of him. Bit like Triggers broom it will last forever. Oh and painted the gate as well, much to the youngest disgust, who demanded to know why I painted it orange then stormed off before I could answer. Fucking psycho. 4
Clive
I bought some wood preservation paint last year, after 1st coat it was Pink! luckily when it dried and soaked into the wood it turned brown. On a separate note, my double gates are not seized up through lack of use..opened quite easily

I have left it for a couple of years, post heart attack, so I have quite a bit of catching up to do. At least I am in the right head space to do it now.

Haha she sounds delightful, still unable to cut the grass here it's just too wet, starts drying out for a couple of days then rains overnight and back to square one 2

I am concentrating on the bedroom mould at the moment because wife wakes each morning with a bit of a sore throat.
