Basingstoke to Bulford TET

I have a weekend of trail riding in Surrey at the end of August so yesterday I decided to go have a look at a route to take in on the way there.

For anyone that doesn't know there is a thing called the Trans Euro Trail (or TET for short) , which you can download routes to ride all over Europe.  So yesterday I did a section from Basingstoke to Bulford which I will do in reverse when I go to Surrey.

So I rode tarmac down to Basingstoke apart from one small section of gravel where I stopped for a coffee ..........

Then made my way to the first lane just off the A339, most of the lanes were old routes used many years ago by drovers ........

and lots of covered ways that are old routes as well...............

Then I got to one of my favourites but unfortunately it had a temporary closure imposed so I had to make a detour .................

So I made my way to a further part of the route which is the glorious track on top of Walbury Hill ............

First ride with any off-road yesterday Fred.  It was much more manageable , less weight and now it's approx 2 inches lower so I can flat foot it with my right leg.  It was a joy to ride it on those easy lanes and even in the ruts I saved it a couple of times where previously I would probably have hit the deck 👍

Some of the lanes were a bit overgrown  :classic_unsure:

and some were full of flowers ..........

Then it was on to Salisbury Plain and the Old Bulford Road.   I stopped here for cheeky ride around the woods and a coffee...........

dont you come across angry ramblers or dog walkers

Yes , but I'm polite to them unless they start with old 'you shouldn't be riding that bike here' . In that scenario I question the twats knowledge of rights of way .  Nine times out of ten they haven't got a clue , so I inform them in a very condescending tone.
