Riding to the Northeast

Earache

Recommended Posts

Today was day one on my ride through Canada and to New Hampshire.  Had to ride the flats of Eastern Colorado and Nebraska today, so not a lot of fun. YUp and riding at 0330 in order to beat the heat in Nebraska...

Did just over 650 miles today and will have to do about 400 miles across Iowa and into Minnesota tomorrow. None of it will be fun. But, it should get better after that.

In Omaha now, waiting on Todd to show up. He lives not too far away and will be meeting me tonight for dinner.

More pics to come.....

Have to say, leaving home at 3:30AM isn’t for me!

Fat dogs, you are nowhere. It’s like they’re challenging you to go away!

I like getting away early to beat the traffic, especially in the car.

It was quite nice - cool out, empty highways that I could just cruise along at 90 mph. Was worried about elk, moose and animals in my home area -but all good after that.

Went down to the hotel bar at 5:01 PM as it opens at 500 - not that I'm a raging alcoholic or anything. Bastards weren't open at 5:00 .

And their Stella tap was dry....

So we walked about 200 feet to a Taproom for pizza and beers. Pizza was "Detroit style" which apparently means greasy and square in shape. Still, I ate most of mine  as I was starving.

We were kind of in the suburbs, but still - I thought Omaha was a great little town. Clean, neat streets with lots of people milling about....

Back at the room, Todd prepares his bed made of pillows on the floor. They are sold out and didn't have any other rooms available and mine had one bed.

His ass is gonna hurt tomorrow!

Um, er... My gosh can you believe it? I forgot I had an appointment to wash my dog, I guess I won't be able to meet you on Tuesday!

Yesterday was a day to forget - riding in high heat and humidity across the farm fields of Iowa and southern Minnesota.

Started the day off with a fancy breakfast at a posh restaurant in Iowa ...

5:00 AM and I'm sitting in my room waiting for this mess to pass so I can leave.

Todd returns home today while I continue into Canuckistan alone. He left about 30 minutes ago.

More later....
