Parenting.?...don't beleive it can all be contributed to bad parenting....lot have to do with self motivation I believe... Maybe true, or not My son does his upmost to avoid working a regular job, he has been like that since he was 20, he is 45 now, at the moment he is in a job, er sort of, in the last month he has missed 8 days at work, because he says "I can't be bothered" , iam surprised the company puts up with it. Our daughter (40) works (undermanager) in a care home, she works 40 hour week, and will also work extra days, even nightshirts when the sick/lame/lazy can't be bothered to turn in, but she does it for the things she wants in life, money, car, nice home and giving her daughter things that any parent wants their kids to have. Your not rambling at all...don't think all can be contributed to bad parenting like Buckster said. I have twins they were both raised in the same manner...I can say one is more motivated than the other one...I think it boils down to character mostly.. If your Dad was a welfare case and drunk and stone 90% of his life...I can see that affecting the outcome...but some will repeat the same pattern and some won't.. 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Coal mines gone, hosiery industry gone. The company I worked for was just a middling employer in town at that time, now it's one of the largest employers, there are very few large business operating here. Saul Posted November 13 Share Posted November 13 I not sure it is all down to parenting although that is a factor without doubt, all my kids work 17, 19 and 20. The younger two the girls have a strong work ethic that I wouldn’t fault. The boy on the other hand is a lazy twat and would spend all day gaming if I let him. I rule him with a rod of iron, work or education are the only options if he wants to live here. I freaked on him the other day because he started chucking sickies, he won’t be doing that again. Sir Fallsalot Posted November 15 Share Posted November 15 I work in the electrical industry and have to say there is a massive shortage of people, and those willing to work I've found are a waste of space not interested in the job just want the cash every month. The group of lads we have now wont put up with them for long so their gone pretty quick if their not pulling their weight we don't carry anyone now. My daughter has worked from the age of 16 part time while doing her degree at uni and is now working as a teachers assistant in a school with problem kids god knows why but she likes it. She is totally self motivated and asks very little from us and shes travelling all over the place so enjoying life. The boy well what can i say the little fucker is living my dream. He's stage crew on a zero hour contract so works as and when he wants he needs pushing sometimes but when he works hes flat out, He done 6 weeks solid 12 hours a day at a festival and then had a month or two off travelling to meet up with friends at gigs in Germany, Ireland i think Sweden and London then back to work to earn more cash, weekend before last he done two 18 hour shifts had a day off then another 18 hour shift followed by a 19 hour shift then done two days five hours in the morning then back at 10pm for another five hours and the same Saturday and Sunday he will probably be off for a few weeks soon until he gets low on cash.
