She's running! Torquier and faster than before, smoother than before, shifts better than before.

Just brought her home!

Ride report?

I might be able to go somewhere before the end of year, even if only a local Portuguese couple of days, I know you want to see it so will make an extra effort just for you.

Certainly, I shall get an invoice over the next few days or when I go back in 1000km to check valve clearances. What, am I going to run away?

Probably enough to buy a decent second hand bike in the UK, though.

If you pay when you god dam like, they won’t treat you this way. But my mechanic has been a friend for many years, he prepared my bike like he would have one of his own, as he knows me and what it means to me, so he can do the work that’s needed and then invoice the stuff after it’s finished. Then he trusts me to pay it. I don’t see that as something difficult to understand between friends.

Must be a grim message you send people, @Six30, if being a long time biker people don’t trust you to settle a mechanic’s bill after you ride off.

I’m not a stranger. Plus no stranger would work that deep on my bike.

It don't work like that here you get your bike back after you pay the bill but obviously if the guy doing the work is a mate that's different.
The Honda dealer i was going to in the 90's was great i used to phone up and order all sorts of parts then go and pick them up and pay when they arrived, when he closed his mechanic reopened his shop as a service and MOT shop and he said myself and a few others were the only ones to have that service anyone else would have to pay a non refundable deposit up front before said parts would be ordered. I do have a similar arrangement with the bike shop i got my Beta from

I would have no issue with paying before riding away with the bike. It’s to ease his administration work, it’s all done in trust.

Similar has happened to most people in business, but some relationships go beyond that. And, I can be trusted with that credit, same way as I trust he does all he thinks he needs to do to the bike to make it nice. Goes both ways.

I think it all depends on the circles you move in , we have plenty of customers who settle up for work done by bank transfer after they've left with their bikes.  We get very few non-payers .
