Has it shit it's pants yet?

It doesn’t wear pants, it’s a motorcycle.

And no, running nicely.

Valves checked today, after 900km. Will check again at 10000, and set the timing after the chains have stretched the initial bit.

Also, replaced the gearbox output seal as the new seal wasn't sealing. Will have to go for a proper ride and see if it's sorted now, hope so otherwise my ride for late next week will also be compromised.

Good luck Pedro i don't know about you but i always have a bit of mistrust after i rebuild a bike, takes some time for me to be confident in it's reliability again especially now I've let my AA membership lapse LOL

Hence it being looked over. It is running smoothly and very strong, so I am optimistic.

Very slight wear on the cam but overall for that mileage it looks great 👍

Is kilometerage a word 🤔

In Portuguese it would be quilometragem, so I suppose so.

I looks ok for the use, it’s just that pesky output seal that might be sealing or not sealing, I’ll try and see tomorrow.

Kilométrage is the word in french.

Since there are so many words in french that written the same way that in english and mean the same, I think that it's a valid word 😛

Checked the breather hole for oil in the morning, and only doing slow roadsit looked a little moist but enough that it could be remains of the leak still exiting the rear of the arm.

However, took a 20 or 30 mile fast cruise down a motorway to test it, and arrived home to this.

only a small amount spread by wind, but I think it’s too much to be residual. Will try and get it fixed next week, second try.

If you care, bike’s back home, and turns out the leak wasn’t leaking anymore, it was just residual oil that was still inside the swinging arm.

New seal was still put in now using the proper tool to have it aligned to spec, and we’re golden.

I very much wish to go on a two day ride to Alentejo and maybe Algarve before Christmas, but still not sure I’ll be able to.

Been riding the GS, it's done a few miles now, mostly easy main roads. The little vent valve is off and the breather hole is open so that any remaining oil from inside the suspension arm can freely come out. The shaft is lubed inside, so I don't want to clean the inside of if with aggressive stuff like brake cleaner to not take lubrication and protection out of the shaft knuckles.

So far, it's looking nice. I'll try and remember to fit the rubber breather valve in before it rains properly.
