Harley, Indian, or other cruiser/tourer

If you were to have a bike meant for mostly cruise control style of riding, covering some distance on motorways and what you brits call A roads, and felt like having proper comfort, would you be tempted for a cruiser?

I sort of feel like test riding a Harley sort of thing with a fairing. Rode a BMW 1600B once, on loan for a day, and found it amazing on the motorway. Don't want to have that as it's too delicate mechanically, but ... what you go for?

I tend to not be too impressed by Indian, they always look naff when I look at them in real life.

Pan European, good enough for Millyard good enough for me.  😉   I like the look of Cruisers and if you are going that route it would have to be a Harley, I do like Harleys just can't see myself ever riding one.

Not my style of riding but if it were I would probably go for a Super Tenere, you then have the option of gravel as well  :littleguy:

I'm thinking of buying a new Tenere as mine has a lot of miles on it. But for what Pedro describes, I'd buy a Japanese cruiser of some sort.

I probably won't. Having a Triumph here is not a very nice experience, dealers are twats, their parts service and mechanics are a joke, parts are way more expensive since brexit, etc.

Having said that, my mechanic does like Triumphs.

A Scrambler with those high pipes is not a bike I would enjoy in Portuguese summer, Steve McQueen didn't need them either.

Like Pedro says Dealers are Twat's or that has been my experience with Triumph.   I would still buy an older one, not a new one.   I quite fancy an older Transalp at the moment but that could change.

I visited Triumph West London when I was there and they were great guys. I wouldn't mind buying a bike from them at all.

Sofia got her two Triumphs from there, and still orders parts sometimes :classic_laugh:

Plymouth Triump were cunts, now gone. Bridge, Exeter were better but still doing me a favour in their attitude.    I  am funny like that, I like people to at least be polite when I am buying a new bike, 😉

Harley, only if there was nothing else available, at all.

I like the idea of going down the road at 80mph doing half the rpms that my bike does.

Thing is I struggle to find a proper trip to enjoy that.

You've mentioned Harleys a few times, think you've gonna have to scratch the itch.

I'd say my area of narrow twisty roads wouldn't suit but there's plenty around here.

I do like them, on principle.

That's it, I'll see about going on a test ride.

Never really had my attention other than one I spotted at the Brighton run several years ago. Very low, just gloss black and chrome, owner said it was crippling to ride.:classic_laugh:

My enduring  memory of a Harley was my mates brothers Sportster.  About 1982 when me and my school mates were on Fizzys one older lad had a 1000cc Sportster,   To us it took off like a rocket  and seemed to be firing every lamp post.  Cool as Fuck back then.   I have liked them since.   Sometimes put off by some of the monumental biker cosplay Arseholes that can be found riding them but they are not all like that.

To be fair I think I would have pulled over and let  matey bollocks past as well.   I would rather have him in front of me than behind.  😉
