Late weekend thread

It's already almost over, the weekend, but there's still time :classic_laugh:

Storm Eowyn is arriving at Northern Portugal just now, leaves and stuff are now starting to fly around and it's looking very Irish or Scottish outside.

I was supposed to take yesterday's sunshine to wash my bike and take it to my mechanic's for a chinwag and some coffee, but didn't. Me and my dad have fallen out big time over the last month or two, but now he's been admitted at hospital for a lung infection and having late stage ALS means he's probably not getting out of hospital. As such the last few days served to patch things up to give him some peace, and yesterday was particularly emotional. That has affected my motorcycling, though.

Today will be more of the same, but with weather warnings.

After fucking about with the Beta yesterday i decided to take the 650 out for a run, I had one lane in mind to visit as i know there's been a tree down for about 15 years and the alternative route that's been created is a bit tough. I wanted to see if it was worth clearing and then organising a TRF party to clear it. Still in two minds whether its worth it as the track up to it is quite tough and not sure making the last 30 yards easier will be worth the effort as the tree trunk in the brambles is massive and will be a bit of work to shift it.

Original route is to the right of the bike

It was a weird ride i just didn't seem to gel with the bike i was noticing everything wrong like the clutch lever was a stretch to reach and when i did get hold of it it was a chore pulling it in and the throttle action was stiff i felt nervous on the wet roads so was riding like a granny and going down the lane i practically walked down but not a confident walk more like one of those old people you see in a shopping centre gripping onto a Zimmer frame as if it was on the edge of a 200 foot drop, maybe the Beta is turning me into a willy woofter. The temperature dropped to 2c on the way home and that made me even more nervous because it was getting dark and some of the roads had been icy all day.

Today's a washout and i'm aching like a bitch think i'm coming down with something which hopefully explains my feelings yesterday going to do nothing i still haven't got dressed so it's going well.

I admire the efforts you guys go to to keep lanes usable. I don’t think anything like that happens here except for fire prevention and that’s not really done by enthusiasts.

A bloody marvellous day here today, pissing it down, cool/cold, a bit breezy and my back feels like it's going to go at any minute 😂

But i am feeling on top of the world!, yes I really am. 👍

Hows the boiler @Clive keeping you warm

It not a patch on the Baxi boiler, rads now get very warm, but not red hot like they previously did, it's slow to warm the place up, it gets there eventually though.

Maybe more economical to leave it for longer and be more comfortable, though?

We are comfortably warm now, it just takes quite a time to get the bungalow up to the comfy temperature.......the blurb that comes with the boiler says its fuel (gas) efficient,  we will judge that when the next gas bills comes.

I don’t know, Bob. Looks very nice, but there’s a kitchen island in the middle of your new garage.

The extension will be a kitchen/diner/living room,  What was the front room will become our bedroom with en-suite (once the chimney place has been removed) .  Originally we were looking to move but in the end we decided to do this instead so that our soon has his own space upstairs .

Modern condensing boilers are in part more efficient because the output temp ( to your rads) is lower than with the non condensing type, so you are absolutely right that the rads prob don’t get as hot as with an older boiler. You can alter the output temp yourself, at least you can on mine, but the higher you make it the less efficient the thing will be.

I did try to alter the heating settings (digital display) but it put up a warning when i tried to raise it , so I left it as the engineer set it . 😟 now the weather is a little milder it is doing fine.
