How often do you clean your helmet ?

I don't mean wiping your member in the curtains after you've just been performing with Blodwyn in Swansea in 1973 !!   I mean how often do you clean your crash helmet .

After my trip on the weekend I've just stripped mine down and given it a good clean because of all the salt that was on it.  Obviously in the summer months it's more important to clean the inside liners if you've been sweating.

So what is your procedure for keeping it clean and fresh ?

This obviously doesn't apply if you're just pushing it in and out of your van for a photo in some roadside car park ..........

The exterior of the helmet receives a regular clean with Mr. Sheen  i removed the lining of my helmet a couple of times in the summer and stick it in the washer,  but it starts to whiff a bit very quickly after washing, the helmet is years old, maybe time for a replacement. 🤔

Not sure if it’s because I live out in the sticks but getting all the bits of splatted bugs out of the vents is a pain

Think I'm with Clive on this one....a coupla times over the summer months w/ Lysol anti-bacterial & hand washing the interior pads in the sink. Then a good coat of car wax over the exterior as well as both sides of the visor...but of course, mine doesn't get nearly as dirty when I'm traveling under 40 mph.:classic_biggrin:

I clean mine off with Honda Polish after each ride for the exterior and wash the liner about once a year, That and a new helmet every three to four years.

Doesn't smell too bad as far as I know.
